November 2021 Astrology
November 2021 Astrology features the beginning of Eclipse season, with a New Moon in Scorpio and a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Taurus.
Mercury clears the shadow of last month’s retrograde just ahead of the New Moon early in the month. The swift-footed one is finally moving on from the prolonged conversation and balancing act he’s been at in Libra. On the 5th of the month, he plunges headlong into the cold waters of Scorpio just on the heels of the Sun and the Moon.
Now we are once again entering new territory. We know it when Mercury and Venus change signs – from active modalities to passive-receptive modalities – on the same day.
Venus leaves fiery Sagittarius in favor of the more reserved and cautious terrain of Capricorn also on the 5th. Here she prepares for next month’s Venus Retrograde in Capricorn, a period of review and reconfiguring of relationships, finances, values and valuables. The shadow period for her Retrograde cycle begins on November 17th.
The second half of November 2021 Astrology sees Mercury moving swiftly on to wax philosophical in Sagittarius. The Sun will of course lead the way just ahead of Mercury, beginning Sagittarius season on November 21 this year.
The Scorpio Lunar Cycle
November 2021 Astrology opens with a New Moon in Scorpio at 12° 40′ on November 4. The New Moon is opposite Uranus (exactly) and squares Saturn. This Moon ignites the stubborn Saturn-Uranus square which is a main feature of overall 2021 Astrology. This is an ongoing story of the old guard coming into conflict with the young and revolutionary, affecting structures and systems in community.
The First Quarter Moon checking in point is in Aquarius on November 11. This Moon is happily conjunct Jupiter, offering some grace and good fortune as we build up to a transformative and illuminating Full Moon Lunar Eclipse.
November’s Full Moon is a partial Lunar Eclipse in Taurus on the 19th (at 27° 14′). This eclipse, since it is the first in Taurus, will start to awaken Uranus in our personal charts and collectively. Whichever House Uranus in Taurus is transiting (since 2018) is already on shifting ground. This is the first eclipse we’re having on the Scorpio/Taurus axis, with the Lunar Nodes actually changing signs on January 18.
The Last Quarter Moon will be in Virgo on November 27. As we wind down from the Scorpio lunar cycle, the Moon squares Mercury, who will have moved into Sagittarius by this time, and is also in a harmonious trine to Uranus. This support integrating changes that are sure to come this month.
The next New Moon is a Total Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius on December 3rd (at 12° 22′).

Mercury Builds Stamina
Hermes has one last word to say to Hades as Mercury squares Pluto for the third and final time on November 2. Have it out over those tricky subjects as we leave behind the old Moon that began in Libra and culminated in Aries last month.
Now we are finally through that squirrelly Mercury Retrograde period, with Mercury swimming into Scorpio on November 5. Our thoughts and communications continue to scratch beneath the surface and peer into the shadows as Mercury builds toward his Full phase. Use this time to investigate, research, and tackle your plans for the rest of the year and beginning of 2022. Leave no stone unturned!
Mercury leaps into buoyant Sagittarius on the 24th, glad to step up on a soap box until December 13. We have a Mercury Cazimi here on November 28th, which is his Superior Conjunction or Full phase. What we have learned during the Mercury Retrograde in Libra during September and October fully comes into focus now. From here, the Magus travels on to become the evening star, visible in the West after sunset.
Eventually Hermes will have another Retrograde cycle, a second go through Aquarius in January. Until then, he’ll be in the Waning phase of his cycle.
Venus Retrograde in Capricorn
Venus enters earthy Capricorn on November 5, where she will soon begin her Retrograde journey. She’ll be here seeking material comfort, security, and recognition for the next four months.
The shadow period for Venus Retrograde in Capricorn runs from November 17 through March 1, with the actual Retrograde journey falling between December 19 and January 29. She’ll excavate the terrain of 11° 04′ to 26° 29′ Capricorn, which will mostly call out placements around 11-27° of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn).
Mars in Scorpio
Determined Mars saunters into his own hallowed haunt of Scorpio the day before Halloween. He’ll spend the entirety of November in his nocturnal realm, stimulating our craving for depth and substance as we creep up on our own our deepest desires. Mars will be in Scorpio until December 13.
Sun in Scorpio & Sagittarius
Scorpio season runs from October 22 to November 21 this year.
When the Sun enters Sagittarius, he’s preparing for the Total Solar Eclipse that falls on December 4th. The last part of the month takes on a restless, adventurous feeling as we navigate the heightened sensitivity of these eclipse times.
