The two are co-present in Scorpio from September 30 and Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio will actually overlap in a significant way with Venus’ Retrograde (see below for all the juicy details).

December 19: Venus clears the Shadow. Although Venus will be done with her Retrograde in November, she isn’t really “done.” She is still in the post-Retrograde Shadow phase until December 19, and remains in Scorpio until January 7, 2027.

What is Venus Retrograde?

Venus Retrograde is a time to strip away the superficial fluff of how we relate to the world and look at what we truly value. When Venus — the planet of love, beauty, money, and self-worth — appears to move backward from our perspective on Earth, the cosmic spotlight shifts inward on what holds deep significance to us. The Morning Star (Late October – End of the Year)

Venus gets a hard reset with her Inferior Conjunction to the Sun on October 23, at 0 degrees Scorpio. Gradually Venus will transition out of the Sun’s glare to make her heliacal rise as the Morning Star in the predawn Eastern sky. She emerges as her day-time warrior self around late October (around October 30), where she stays for the remainder of the Winter.

This is the point where we shed the old evening-star skin of relational habits, passing through the dark vault of the underworld and rising anew with the fierce warrior-like clarity of the Morning Star.

The Fruition of this Cycle

The next Superior Conjunction of Venus marks the blazing, fully illuminated mid-point or “Full Moon” phase of the cycle. That’s when what was planted in the dark underworld descent comes out into the open air to reach its peak fruition, before she eventually winds down toward the next Retrograde. To pass through the seven gates of the underworld, Inanna has to strip away one piece of royal attire, adornment, or ego at every single gate until she enters the underworld completely naked and defenseless. We are descending into the underworld, stripping away one layer of armor, ego, or performative expectation at each of the seven gates.
