It’s almost like a power surge — as Jupiter in Leo amplifies the energy — where we’re finally compelled to turn away from the overwhelming brilliance of the stage lights. This eclipse asks us to empty our pockets of those weak, outdated patterns of needing outside validation, constant vigilance in self-defense, and illusions about who we “have to be” to be (somehow) deemed worthy.
Shedding the Armor: Pluto in Aquarius
Leo energy can sometimes slip into the shadow of performing for an audience, tying self-worth strictly to outside validation. As if a total solar eclipse in Leo wasn’t enough a fire-ball on its own, we have the Sun and Mercury in Leo sitting opposite Pluto. This is echoing the raw, overwhelming intensity of the Full Moon in Aquarius and Jupiter Cazimi that we had on July 29.
Aquarius opposite forces us to be authentic to our own code of ethics apart from what society demands of us. We have to hold our own point of view with conviction and staying power, without the applause, recognition, or showering of attention that Leo is accustomed to.

The Lunar Eclipse in Pisces, arriving hand-in-hand with a razor-sharp Virgo Mercury Cazimi, is a whole different animal than the first eclipse. This is where the walls dissolve.
The Solar Eclipse demanded an externalized push. The Pisces Lunar Eclipse asks for surrender, deep psychic clearing, and emotional processing. Under this watery sky, stagnant residue and psychic static are brought to the surface to be washed clean by the tides. The Lunar Eclipse is more internal, dissolving, psychic, and deeply healing.

These insights will be best processed through feelings and not the intellect, although the square to Uranus highlights our desire to intellectualize and catalogue our findings.
The Chiron Undercurrent: Anchoring in Bodywork
The wounded healer Chiron entered Taurus recently, and we are only beginning to realize the lessons he carries and the structural and foundational body-work and hands-on tactical work that lies ahead. This month Chiron stations Retrograde in Taurus on August 3rd, turning that energy inward for the first time where it has a chance to percolate and deepen its charge.
A number of transits point at this Chiron undercurrent during the course of the month, with inner planets entering new signs and encountering the wounded centaur as they do so:
- Mercury will square Chiron on August 9th directly after entering Leo.
